They say you should never judge a book by its cover and Karapet Karapetyan is a perfect example. The hard-hitting Armenian is one of the top welterweights in kickboxing, but he is also possibly the most highly educated fighter in the game.
Karapetyan has a degree in law and speaks five languages - Armenian, Dutch, English, Russian and German. He is as interested in academic and business matters as he is in the striking arts and in fact his intelligence is a large part of what makes him so dangerous in the ring
Born in Armenia, Karapetyan moved to Europe in his youth as his family sought to escape the after-effects of war in their homeland. As such he is part of a tradition which has produced numerous Euro-Armenian kickboxers such as Giorgio Petrosyan, Sahak Parparyan and the Grigorian brothers.
