'Chopper' Chi: “I am going to give people what they want to see at GLORY 30”

Chi Lewis-Parry returns to the GLORY ring next month for a 'SuperFight Series' showdown with Guto Inocente at GLORY 30 LOS ANGELES.

It will be his first fight for GLORY since coming runner-up in the GLORY 21 SAN DIEGO Heavyweight Contender Tournament last May, but his goals remain the same as ever: blast his way to a title shot.

“Right now my focus is to get a title shot in GLORY,” he says.

“We've just seen Mladen Brestovac get a title shot and that was after losing to Benjamin Adegbuyi in the Denver contender tournament in October So I reckon if I can get top five, I can get a title shot of my own. I want to win this next fight and then I am going to start calling for it,” he says.

“Rico Verhoeven knows I will sell the s--t out of it. Experience doesn't matter, it's a fun fight and it will draw. So let's get this win and then I am going to start calling for a title shot. The poster alone will be better than the fights he's had. Why? Because I will be on it.

“It's been a year, way too much time to be inactive, so I am really excited about getting in there and performing. I want to get in there and get on that canvas – and then get on that mic afterwards and call for my title shot.”

Lewis-Parry is 2-1 in GLORY with two wins by stoppage. His sole loss also came inside the distance, which is typical of the Heavyweight division – with fighters this size, it only takes one big shot to end a fight.

“That's what I do man, I go in there to finish fights and give people what they want to see. Inocente scored a big knockout in his GLORY debut when he stopped Demoreo Dennis with that spinning head kick but I reckon that was lucky. Let's see him get his leg that high on me,” he says.

“I don't rate his hands. I look at him and there's nothing about his boxing which makes me go whoa, he's got dangerous hands. His kicking game is really good though so that's the main threat. But like I say, let's see him get his leg that high. I'm confident I am going to take him out in LA and give the people what they want to see.”

Lewis-Parry's fight with Inocente takes place on the GLORY 30 LOS ANGELES SuperFight Series card, which airs live and exclusively worldwide on UFC Fight Pass. The GLORY 30 numbered card later in the evening airs on ESPN 2 and features Joe Schilling in a rematch with Jason Wilnis and Simon Marcus defending the world Middleweight championship against Dustin Jacoby.
